Arpita is an independent producer known for award-winning short films, including Trouble (nominated for a Student Oscar and selected for BFI London Film Festival).
Arpita is currently developing her own slate of original projects and adaptations as a writer/producer, across film and HETV, under her banner, a reverie. She is drawn towards stories which explore heavy themes, sweeping eras, and cultural waves; anchored by relatable human connections. The macro through the micro. The universal in the specific.
Prior to completing her MA in Producing at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), Arpita spent six years at a magic circle firm in the City as a Finance lawyer, having studied Law at Oxford. In her (little) free time, she moonlighted as a pro bono human rights lawyer, successfully advocating for reproductive rights of women and girls across the world. Through this advocacy work, she realised storytelling is one of our most powerful tools to reflect on our world and achieve real change, so she decided to become a filmmaker.
